Annemarie is currently Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Textile Degree at Hull School of Art and Design. A committed educator she has been working and teaching within the field of creative arts for over 30 years, regularly running experimental print workshops and summer schools. She is an active member of Hull based art collective HU5 and often appears as a muse for photographic artist Anna Bean. With a HNC in Textiles, Degree in Fine Art and MA in Visual Arts Annemarie has an expressive, process led approach to her practice. Inspiration comes from experiencing the elements, atmosphere and light during visits to the remote, minimal landscape of the Holderness Plain. Her aim is to produce ambiguous and ethereal work that evokes a sense of the sublime. She has an enthusiasm for experimentation, particularly the alchemy of the dyeing process. Annemarie is currently indulging in her fascination with the Japanese art of Shibori, exploring wrapping and binding techniques.
